Now what?
So, Steve and I have been playing with this idea for quite a while. The idea takes on a life of it's own the more we talk about it. (see initial posting below) It started with Steve and his buddy Rick going kayaking all the time and being excited about the human power behind the sport - no motorboats for them! Steve also runs and bikes (among other things!) and 'be the engine' just fit his attitude.
As we discussed what we could do with this saying, we got more excited about what it could mean. Be the Engine. Be the Engine for change. With so many big issues facing the world today, I started to think of this as a broader call to action. There is the concept of fitness - but what about change. Should we each take on the responsibility to do something to change the world (even our little piece of the world) for the better? Can we each Be the Engine?
This is where we are - trying to figure out what to do. We made a few t-shirts to just get the concept onto something concrete. We'd like to stylize it and come up with a cool logo - but more than that, we would like to get people on board with the concept.
Help us out with this. Post your ideas, thoughts, suggestions and we'll see what we can make happen.

What is this about?
Three very simple, but powerful words.
The power of movement. The power of human performance. The power of the human spirit.
The power of you, the power of all of us. The power to make a difference.
Walk, run, or ride a bike. Paddle a canoe or kayak. Conserve and preserve.
Hear the sounds of nature, smell the earth - and protect it.
It starts with your human power.
Use our message to inspire. Start small.
•Walk your kids to the neighbor’s house, instead of taking the car.
•Begin a jogging program, instead of another TV program.
•If you can, commute to work by bike. Start a community running or paddling club. Engage your friends.
•Volunteer. Help your neighbor. Give back. Make a difference.
Where you go is up to you. You will increase your power. You will 'Be the Engine.'
What we believe:
Physiologically, we all are engines. We burn fuel. We create heat and movement. Human engines, all of us.
We believe in the power of individual to create change - in your own life and in the lives of others. Be the Engine.
So, please leave us your comments - we'd love to hear from you. Can this idea catch on? Would you be interested in buying something with this logo on it? Do you believe that we can all 'be the engine' in some way?
